Travel Cots
If you plan to travel a lot with your baby, a travel cot could be a worthwhile investment. Not only will you be sure that your child will have somewhere to sleep wherever you are, it will provide a familiar environment in unfamiliar surroundings, helping encourage quick sleep!
Pop-up Travel Cots
The most familiar kind of travel cot is a fabric-covered frame which can fold down into a rectangular 'bag' for easy carrying and storage. With mesh sides so your baby can see out (and you can see in!), and a fully zippable enclosure for safety, these are a good solution for lightweight travel.
The downside is that they are not fully sturdy and may not be ideal once your child is standing. They can also be incredibly difficult to set up and take down - make sure you're well practiced before needing to do it for real!
Folding Cots
Another option is a folding cot which doesn't fully collapse, but can be folded flat. These are not as portable, but much quicker and easier to set up and take down. They are also more sturdy, and are probably a better option than a fabric cot for use in a semi-permanent setting, for example at the grandparents.
